Justice Rajendra Menon was sworn-in as the Chief Justice of the Delhi high court at Raj Niwas on Wednesday. Lieutenant-governor (LG) Anil Baijal administered the oath of office to the newly appointed CJ who was earlier the Chief Justice of Patna high court.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, other cabinet ministers, senior members of the judiciary, officers of the Delhi government and other officials were present at the swearing-in ceremony.

Justice Menon replaces Justice Gita Mittal who has been transferred as the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir high court.

Justice Menon has also served as a judge in the Gwalior Bench of the Madhya Pradesh high court. The Supreme Court collegium had recommended his transfer to Delhi high court on July 16. He was the Chief Justice of Patna high court for 16 months.
