Cannes 2019: Hina Khan’s Appearance Sparks Conversations of Many Kinds

Television actor Hina Khan will be among the few Indian actors who are scheduled to speak at the Cannes Film Festival. India today also confirms that Hina has featured in a music video Bhasoodi with Sonu Thukral, and a short film titled Smart Phone. She has also bagged a Bollywood project and a short film titled Soulmate. That’s not all. Hina also loves to sweat it out in the gym to maintain her perfect curves. She regularly posts pictures and videos on her Instagram page and keeps her fans updated about her daily activities. She looks gorgeous in her Cannes looks and also check out her film Lines’ poster that she released in Cannes.

Earlier she ran into a spot of controversy regarding her appearance at Cannes when Filmfare editor Jitesh Pillai had mentioned in his instastory saying, “Cannes has become Chandivali studios kya?” which got a lot of ire from Hina Khan’s friends such as Karanvir Bohra and Priyank Sharma. Hina Khan later too to twitter to state,

Jitesh later issued an apology saying, “My apologies to Hina Khan. My insta caption has been grossly misconstrued. I would never belittle an artiste. Those who know me well enough will agree that I’m inclusive and always appreciative of talent. My remark was meant to suggest that Cannes has become Bollywood centric. Studios like Chandivali etc are the very studios that I’ve spent my time as a rookie reporter. I would never run down my wonder years spent in these studios. My sincere apologies to Hina again. I wish you continued success.” The television actress later accepted Jitesh’s through her instastory, saying, “Dear Jitesh Pillai, Thank you for acknowledging it..and thank you for your good wishes..wish you the same. Regards, Hina Khan.” Anupama Chopra, writing for Hindustan Times, said that she spoke to the actor and Hina said that she was initially upset because she’s worked very hard to get to the festival … but she’s decided to focus on the good things like Lines and the massive support she’s got”. Anupama asked her if the television actor tag is problematic when it comes to Bollywood to which Hina replied that she didn’t know but no matter how far she travels, she will always acknowledge the role that television has played in her life.

News18 reports that she will also be a speaker at the 72nd edition of the festival, which will run from May 14-25. Very few actresses get this opportunity to speak at the festival. India Today writes that after participating and performing well in Khatron Ke Khiladi, the lady became the first runner-up in Bigg Boss 11. Post the show, she was seen in a glam avatar in a music album. She was noticed by soap czarina Ekta Kapoor and was offered the role of iconic vamp Komolika in the reboot of Kasauti Zindagi Kay. Hina walked the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival and launched the poster of her short film Lines, a feature based on the Kargil War.
