Lady Diana, The True Queen of Hearts

Pick Your Language

Whenever you think of the British Royal family, the first person that comes to our minds is Lady Diana, the Princess of Wales and the Queen of Hearts. While Game of Thrones fans are enjoying Sansa as the Queen in the North and being saved from a tyrant Dany, I began thinking of Lady Diana Spencer, the Queen we all knew and loved! She belonged to the era when social media was not a rage yet her one picture had the ability to mesmerize everyone for days. Ironically, her death was also caused in an attempt to escape the paparazzi following her.

One of the most important aspects of Princess Diana’s life was her love for children. Not only had her own but also children from the underprivileged communities caught her attention. She was a doting mother and her sons, William and Harry, meant the world to her. She strived to provide a life as normal as possible to her sons. Often to the Royal Protocol’s dismay, she would take her children out to Mcdonald’s escaping the famous Buckingham Palace’s cucumber sandwiches. She was her children’s best friend and was also a child herself when playing with them.

Here are some of her most adorable moments with her children.

·         Starting with her godchildren, Princess Diana can be seen holding Lady Edwina who was her first godchild. She was three months pregnant with William at that time.

·         The iconic water slide moments still bring smiles to us.

·         Helping her little Harry with putting his shoe on during a photo shoot

·         Comforting 44 days old William by giving him her finger to suck

·         On his first day in school, doesn’t William look like his daughter Charlotte?

About Diana: “During a Mediterranean cruise with the prince’s close friends Lord and Lady Romsey aboard the yacht ‘Alexander’ in 1992, Diana discovered that Charles was telephoning Camilla and she threatened to go home. When they did eventually return, the situation worsened. Their eldest son, William, could not bear to hear his parents bicker any longer, and it came to a point when he got furious with his dad and yelled at him: ‘I hate you, papa. I hate you so much. Why do you make mummy cry all the time?’ Then, he slammed the door. Whereas his older brother reacted angrily, Harry was much more sensitive and became withdrawn.”

Although many royals try to follow Diana’s footsteps what goes without saying is that there was only one Diana. There always will be. Even if she is not in this world anymore, her memory and image stand in our eyes forever. She was iconic in all walks her life; be it her style sense or her compassion for everyone. She was not appreciated within the Royal family for often breaking the Royal protocol.

What made her truly special was that Princess Diana was not just a wife to the heir of the throne which made her the future king of England. She was also the mother to Prince William who was the second in line to the throne hence the mother of the future King of England as well. When the royal couple got divorced, she was sad about being deprived of her royal title. Little William cajoled his sad mother saying, ‘I will get you your title back when I am the king.’ Alas. There was something far more than Diana got in her lifetime: the title of the Forever Queen of Hearts.
